Hey gang, love the show! Steven, introduced to your channel in my home audio journey looking at both Sonos and HomePods. A+ content and now a supporter of the show. Thanks for introducing me to Jason, a tech curmudgeon that I enjoy reading. Let’s all keep the battery % off, talk Apple, and pretend we wear Vision Pro everyday. Keep up the good work!

    Another Five Stars
I’ve been a longtime listener to Apple Insider and HomeKit Insider, mostly because I’m an Apple fanboy. I remember back in the day when Steven would come on to do special events episodes like WWDC and the iPhone release—those were the best episodes! He’s a great host. I was stoked when he became the main host on AI and Andrew’s cohost on HI. Jason was a frequent guest on AI and your dynamic was always stellar. I was pretty bummed when Steven left both podcasts, and both are worse off for it. Luckily, I stumbled across one of Steven’s YouTube vids a week ago and that led me here. You two are a great team!! I won’t even knock off a star for unbiased reporting of relevant political news. Five Stars!!

    Best Tech Podcast
Updated Review! I'm listening to episode #69 and wanted to share my thoughts about ratings and politics. There were some shows where I felt you may of been bringing in your own political view, Stephen; but as you mentioned, it's necessary at times, when it affects the tech industry! I do feel that you and Jason do a great job and remain one of my favorite podcasts! Battery on, phone in right rear pocket! Thanks for all you do!

    Always Enjoyable
I love their banter and I always learn something new. I was sad when Stephen left the Apple Insider podcast, but I was happy to find him here and the chemistry between Jason and Stephen is perfect. Neither of them pander nor talk down to one another (which is sadly common among many cohost podcasts these days). As a lady tech enthusiast, it’s tough to find a couple of guys who do such a good job of reaching any tech-loving demographic.

    Great and Vanilla

    Super helpful!
This podcast continues to get better and better! It’s my only podcast for Apple news and information. You both give great information and work extremely well together. As always, battery percentage on, Apple Pencil tip towards top and dots on. I have messaged Stephen a few times regarding tips on products to buy and he has responded quickly and given great advice. Currently updating my Plex library with burning my hundreds of Blu-ray’s and adding captions to all of them since both of my daughters are hard of hearing and wear hearing aids. Stephen recommended a Blu-ray reader for my iMac and software to get them all converted. It’s been a slow process but I’m almost done. It is very helpful to have all the captions on for my daughters with whatever we watch. Thanks for all your help!

    Political nonsense
Unnecessary to talk about politics within the signal app situation. I come here to get away from bias, political news and just wanna hear Primary Technology. Stick with tech news! L

Attempt to get to 5 star pod I’m Dubzxn
From Orlando Great podcast keep it up Serverance is a great show with a great finale And I’m so sad about Siri here with the 16 pro it was the main reason i upgraded earlier than I would normally but the features don’t work well enough to use so I just end up using my phone normally like I would without Apple intelligence not sure if anyone else feels this way too😭🤷‍♂️

    New Shortcuts Discovery
One of my favorite podcasts to listen to. New shortcuts discovery: I’ve dug up a hidden syntax that can be used inside the “Show Result” action in shortcuts that augments Siri’s behavior when the shortcut is spoken, like on a HomePod for example. This syntax is hidden visually inside the content that’s typed or passed to the show result action. 1. [Siri pauseForSeconds:0.3] * Adding this in the middle of a sentence tells Siri to wait for x-seconds before speaking the rest. It supports decimals. 2. [Siri show:”Text” say:”text”] * Adding this in a sentence will have the shortcut display certain text but pronounce different text. Apple used these in their “True or False” game shortcut seemingly to improve Siri’s phonetics for parts of the content that wouldn’t read properly. Like having Siri say “Ninety-two” but display “92”. In my testing, these two commands don’t work when pasted into the shortcut for whatever reason. Typing them out, paying careful attention to spaces and letter case usually ends in success. AFAIK, the shortcut doesn’t care what text is inside the quotation marks as long as everything else is typed properly. I haven’t been able to find any other in-line commands like this, but I have to assume there are more of them. Personally, I’ve used both of these to make a more natural sounding “Morning Briefing” shortcut to run in CarPlay on my way to work.

Great show. Wish I could share a beer with you guys.
Listening to Primary Technology feels like hanging out with two good friends who just happen to know a ton about tech! Stephen and Jason break down big tech topics in a way that’s super relatable, mixing sharp insights with plenty of laughs along the way. It’s the perfect mix of smart and fun—definitely a must-listen if you love tech and a good time! Also, for those keeping track at home: battery percentage is on, dominant hand pocket and auto app updates are off because I like to live on the edge. Oh, and just so you know, I still own a working Radio Shack TRS-80 pocket computer and once surfed the digital waves on a 300 baud modem in a past life—respect the classics!

    5 Star Help
Stephen/Jason, I’m giving you a 5 Star from my work phone too. We have to get you back to a 5 star podcast in the US. Also, I turned off my battery percentage to try something new. It’s been strangely enjoyable maybe even a bit relieving. Monkey wrench, personal phone in dedicated cell phone pocket of work pants and work phone in non dominant pocket of work pants. Normal pants with no work phone then personal phone goes in dominant pocket. I made the effort years ago to move my keys to my non dominant pocket or belt clip. - Thrash10

5⭐️’s as a belated birthday present to Stephen. Battery percentage on. Apple Pencil point to the volume buttons. Phone in whichever pocket I have access to at that moment.

Great Show I only wish the video version was posted on the Apple Podcasts App. I enjoy every episode and look forward to it each week.

Tech talk that doesn’t put you to sleep (unless you want it to - really low volume and half-speed)
Stephen Robles and Other Guy Jason Aten somehow manage to make tech news fun, which is no small feat, unless of course you’re the kind of guy who carries his phone in his front, dominant-hand pocket (facing leg), and never shows the battery percentage numbers under any circumstances. They break down the latest gadgets, AI chaos, and industry drama with just the right mix of insight and humor. It’s like having a couple of really nerdy (but not annoying) friends keep you up to date on everything happening in tech. If you want a podcast that keeps you informed and entertained, this is the one. It’s been my absolute favorite since 1973, when it was only available on 8-track tape!

MacBook Air M4 or 16” MacBook Pro (2021) with M1 Pro
My friend has a 16-inch MacBook Pro (2021) with the M1 Pro chip that he got from work. Now it’s time for him to get a new Mac, and his job is selling it to him for $100—which is also what he’s offering to sell it to me for. Should I keep it, or trade it in with Apple for $1,100 and use that credit toward the new MacBook Air M4?

    Another great podcast!
Been following Stephen for years and he and Jason seem to have a great rapport. I love learning new things from these guys and the humor is a must have in a podcast. One of my favs! Also, battery percentage on and phone in rear right pocket or front jacket breast pocket.

Most organized podcast in the world
For years, Primary Technology Podcast has been my absolute go-to for tech news. It's not just a weekly listen; it's a cornerstone of my tech information diet. The consistently outstanding coverage is unparalleled, and the meticulous organization—from detailed chapters to crisp artwork—demonstrates a level of professionalism that's truly rare. This isn't just a podcast; it's a meticulously crafted resource. Battery percentage on. Right rear pocket.

    Best Tech Podcast
This has quickly become a must listen in my podcast feed. It’s strikes the right balance of being critical when it needs to be, but not an overly negative tone. It’s also one of the few podcasts that will make me laugh while listening. Every week I can’t believe the podcast is over already. Battery percentage off. Phone in non-dominant pocket.

    A True 5 star Review
I truly think that this is one of the best technology news podcasts out there. It is fun, entertaining, and informative. Thank you truly to the hosts, you are providing some great content here! My oldest technology piece is an iPhone 2G which still turns on and has all the old logos for Facebook, YouTube, the App Store, etc. on it. The only 3 apps I can use on it I believe are Apple Notes, Apple Maps (Takes 10 minutes to calculate non-real-time directions for a 20 minute drive 🫠), and Safari. Everything else just doesn’t work unfortunately. Fun fact when I found this phone it still had its peel-away protective screen plastic cover on it and when I pealed it off it was so old that the adhesive came off the peak away and stayed on the phone. It was a pain to clean it all off.

    My Favorite Tech Podcast
I listen to a bunch of tech podcasts and this one, by far, is my favorite! Y'all handle political topics in a way that doesn't irritate me or make me want to skip chapters or even the entire podcast. I love the banter between you two and enjoy the tech news you bring. Keep up the great work! Oh, and, battery percentage on, phone in dominant pocket, and apple pencil either direction.

In my top 5 tech podcasts!
I have listened to this show since the beginning, and it quickly moved its way to one my favorite shows I listen to every week. By the way - battery percentage off (who needs that stress in their life?), and the dock auto-hidden on the bottom with only the apps I am currently running (I rarely use the dock).
  • Jazzer789
    My favorite tech podcast!
The chemistry between the hosts is great. Info is top notch. …and Stephen is a fellow trumpet player. So definite stars there! But sorry Stephen-battery percentage on and pencil point down.

If you like tech, Apple products, and some smart home stuff, have a listen!
With the battery percentage ‘on’, Primary Tech is part of my weekly routine along with Stephen’s most excellent YouTube videos! It’s a delicious spread if you’re into tech, Apple products, plus a dab of smart home!

    My New Favorite Show
Battery % on and non dominant back pocket are the only acceptable answers. Also the show is really good.

    One of the few…
These guys deliver week after week. One of the few I have automatically downloading and up text to the top in Pocket Cast (which I now use from watching Stephen’s video from a few months ago). It’s informative and fun and enjoy the banter and opinions. Percentage on, non dominant front pocket.

    One Year Later
Third Review all 5 Stars Battery % On Dominant Hand Pocket I look forward to each new show. I always pick up something new that I haven’t heard before. Can’t wait for your take of the hot trends and products of CES and your live “Show Floor” podcast. Keep up the great work and yes I’ve subscribed for another year. SECOND REVIEW You can read my original review below, but this is an update after 37 Episodes. Primary Tech has become even more important for keeping up with technology. Jason and Stephen are still focused on Apple but have branched out to include Google phones and services, AI both the weird devices Stephen keeps buying and more main stream LLM’s. Many weeks I will listen on in the car and later watch the YouTube episode to catch the visuals. Primary Technology is a bold title for two guys that have spent the last several years with a “primary” focused on all things Apple. However, Jason and Stephen have done a nice job broadening their coverage to include non Apple technology. I’ve enjoyed the 2024 CES content and expect your coverage of the general technology landscape will be excellent. The exclusive content you’ve created for your paid subscriber is worth the annual subscription and it’s nice to skip the commercials. Charles C

    The original article
The hosts have a great dynamic that keeps the conversation flowing. They’re funny in a way that feels natural, not over the top, and they manage to make even the geekiest topics relatable. The deep dives are what really hook me—it’s like hanging out with people who just get it.
  • coolerfm
Best way to keep on top of tech
Jason and Stephen cover a variety of tech topics. I came for the Apple tech deep dives but stick around because they break down the hype and give honest takes on the latest gear and trends beyond the Apple bubble. Feels like they have a lot of fun in the process which makes for good listening. Dots on, percentage off, dominant hand pocket :)
  • Bat-Colby
    Most entertaining tech podcast
Always listened because of Steven but my heart truly subscribed because of Jasons affability. The correct positions on all debates are: Dots on, hiding off, magnification set to teeny tiny bit :), docking bottom, phone in non-dominant pocket, pencil tip up when on side and down when in a pouch (nuance baby!), lastly battery percentage on…not sure what I’m forgetting, but love the show! More debate topics please haha.
