As an aspiring author, I’ve found otherppl to be quite valuable. And entertaining. It’s been helpful to hear authors tell of their journey to publication. My personal favorite episode is with Sam Tallent. And I’ve taken notes while listening to the craft work episodes. Overall, I think it’s the best literary podcast out there, and is continually improving. Brad has a knack for keeping the conversations relaxed and meandering in the best way.

Came across an interview with Stephen Graham Jones in a search for podcasts about horror screenwriting, stuck around for a few more episodes because I really appreciate Brad’s interviewing style. By now I’ve listened to interviews with Jones as well as Jonathan Ames and Alexander Chee, and I’m interested in continuing to listen even though those are the main author names I’ve recognized so far. I’m a beginning writer, with a lot of anxiety that likes to get in the way of actual writing, and this podcast always makes me FEEL like writing — calm and curious and motivated. That itself is invaluable.

Been listening to this show for over ten years and it’s not just my favorite author interview podcast it’s my favorite podcast period. Almost every author you can imagine has been on this program, and Brad has this uncanny ability to ask them the questions you’ve already been wondering as listener.

I have purchased probably 85% of the books I’ve learned about from this podcast. Brad does a great job having intelligent and interesting conversation with his guests. I really enjoy the layout and pretty much every aspect of this podcast. Give it a go. If you’re into literature I assure you, you will appreciate it at the very least. I’m now a big fan. Loved this episode; mainstream publishing is as rich and ossified as I feared. Loved Ms Schmidt’s many solutions to the problem, which don’t sound impossible to do. Such a great analysis of the industry. I hope that publishers start running public service campaigns against book banning as she suggested and that you start interviewing author publishing innovators like Cory Doctorow. And other publishing innovators who are not authors.

Really find the life experiences and backgrounds of the authors interesting. But, it is what Brad Listi draws out of the authors that surface both while providing the listeners with pertinent information on the author’s book. Brad is an informed and superb interviewer. If literary fiction is your interest and listening to how a book came about, Brad makes it happen weekly.

I’ve been listening to Brad’s Otherppl podcast for years now and it’s like listening to a chill conversation with amazing authors, both ones I’ve admired for years and others who I’m just learning about. As a writer myself I often use the podcast to loosen up my mind when I’m stuck in a writing hole, and it always works. So thankful for the work Brad List and his team are doing!

brad’s on top of his game. he gets great authors, knows their work and bios, asks direct questions respectfully, and keeps the conversation flowing. i like that he has the occasional indie author on as well, as their voices also deserve to be heard.

The time I spend listening to Brad Listi’s conversations with interesting people is time well spent in my day. There is a wealth of prime material here. I’ll spend a lifetime digging into all of it!

If someone said you have to drop all other podcasts and save only one, Otherppl would be the podcast I'd save. Listi's interviewing skills lean more toward discussion, and he handles everything in such a manner that guests open up. I've come to find so many writers I'd never have known existed without the show. I've learned a lot about my own writing. As hokey as it might sound, it's also a reminder that there are many great people doing wonderful things in the world. There's a reason I even support the show on Patreon -- I love it!

I wish he would interrupt his guests a lot less.

Brad's voice is emotionally leveling. It causes me no distress. He should probably be leading guided meditations, especially on a slackline
