stapletonsonQuestionWhere do these guys stand on Aimee Byrd’s theological position today?
-
J. Frank AdamsBest in the BizTodd has a shepherd’s heart, and Carl has the insight of an immigrant (and now citizen!) to America. Their podcast is the best in the Christian world.
-
fyi That's my pastorTodd’s my pastor!!!I love listening to it because Todd’s my pastor and he’s a great one and I love listening to his sermons and he’s also kind of funny
-
SnowPeacTimelyMingle good doctrine and practical implications. Thoughtful yet with good understanding of ordinary peoples.
-
ChrisElliottxNo ComplaintsIt’s solid from top to bottom. Humor, good theology, serious discussion, good theology, Carl Trueman…did I mention good theology?…and Todd Pruitt is there too.
-
ohmywordeverynameistakenLove it, keep it up, favorite podcastI look forward to this podcast every other week (so bummed it’s not weekly anymore, but I understand). They are doctrinally sound, humble yet willing to state truth and relevant to current PCA/evangelical culture wars. I also appreciate the dry humor.

ClaytonG.Keep it up!I love what Carl and Todd are doing here. The episodes are so helpful. Thanks.

L dub guy👎👎👎Ugly “everyone who has a different theological view is an idiot” attitude from the hosts. Not very Christ-like. Might be funny and even feed into our pride on a podcast setting, but in the local church this attitude is absolutely detrimental. And Amy Byrd was a gem. ✌️✌️✌️

Non-TechCrisp, clear and helpfulThe discussions in this podcast are so very helpful. As criticisms arise of others, grace is evident. One of my favorite ministers was criticized with a non-character attack approach. This is living out the gospel. Well done!

Kyle Young (Virginia; Canada)New City Catechism Q. 43Pastor Todd, here’s a correction to your comment at minute 25 that the New City Catechism doesn’t address the sacraments. See question 43(–47), “What are the sacraments or ordinances?”
-
tetelestiMortifying the SpinEvery episode has a helpful contribution to the work of the Christian, elder and pastor in the local church. The podcasts address a breadth of subjects from culture, theology and ministry in the local church, making every episode both thought provoking and helpful

confused christianCancel culture?Amy Burd?

JustAnotherHeatherDisappointingThe whole Aimee Byrd thing is a huge bummer. Can’t support the pod anymore.
-
RosePrincess27Fascinating podcastLoved the interview re history of feminism and sexual revolution.

timcole271please be more ChristlikeI’ve heard you justify the snarky polemics and scoffing by referencing some OT verses, but since you are engaged in New Covenant word-ministry I would be taking most of my queues from Jesus and the NT books that give, not inferential, but explicit directions to how, not prophets commissioned by God via direct revelation, but Christian leaders in specific are required to speak to the flock and to the world. Think of Col 4:5-6, 1 Cor 13:4-7, Gal 6:1, Phil 4:5, Titus 3:2 (& 3:2-11 for that matter), Col 3:12, 1 Thes 5:14, 2 Tim 2:24, and others in the epistles - just begging you guys to distinguish yourselves in a John 13:35 sense from the secular pundits the people I shepherd imbibe almost daily - please show your listeners the Savior’s heart for people who are confused and spur them on toward love & good deeds (Heb 10:24) - and yes, if it’s a false teacher - name the dog; but there’s a healthy frank way of doing that, and there’s another way that makes people think inside “ha ha those morons, we’re the sorted bunch” ...and that, I think, is just basically how Pharisees talk. An unbelievable number of people hear your words - weighty stewardship. Anyway I love your stuff like seriously LOVE and I heard your interview with Colin Hansen where are you basically said yeah I’ve had to tone down the rhetoric because I realized it wasn’t right, and I’ve listened to your old stuff too and I remember. thinking whoa is this really Carl Truman? Lol and was so thankful to hear that - but just heard another one of your episodes on here tho and was dismayed again by the spirit of what was said (not the content, just the attitude) Btw Rise & Triumph was phenomenal imo and my wife & I have benefited from it greatly - I have also benefited from your lectures and interviews and am excited to grab whatever you publish next v/r, Tim Cole

SilverFlairNever miss an episodeI look forward every week to the next podcast drop from Carl & Todd; the topics are always of great interest and relevance to today’s evangelical community of Christ followers. Definitely at the top of the list of my absolute favorite podcasts!
-
Thanks BenTim WALDVOGELLove this show but hate the regular strawmaning of those who are not Reformed. Not everyone who finds the “doctrines of grace” anything but gracious or biblical are not open theists.
-
Kent ClarkHere’s to achieving goalsThey describe the podcast as a casual conversation on things that matter. While it is sometimes more earnest than casual that is not to be faulted as much as celebrated. If Christians can strike the balance of Psalm 2:11 then we know we’re on the right track.
-
ro tmAimee Byrd stood up against heresy.Check out the Roys Report interview with Aimee Byrd. She was straight up calling out heresy within the biblical manhood and womanhood movement and was canceled. Such a shame her co-hosts who chide modern evangelicalism so much respond with silence. Typical evangelical move - ignore it and keep business as usual. Sad.
-
AppHunter24681012You have to try this! This podcast will challenge you while offering encouragement. Give it a try!

Snoop19802007Where’s Aimee?I’m more than a little perturbed in that all the shows with Aimee are not available. Why the removal gents?
-
DocMNWonderful! This Podcast is a must for every pastor and theologian. While some of the podcast a little fun to it, the topics are serious, the hosts are willing to take on their now denominations, and the recommendations for further study/reading are always top notch. I do miss the feminine voice in the trio but I understand why the last female host had to leave, but it would be good to get a good female host on the team again!

KentuckyPastorBest podcast out thereBest podcast ever

TheChaseKFollow the fruitThere is a reason why so many are opting out of evangelicalism. Unrelenting power structures, systematic objectification of women, millions and millions of dollars wasted on buildings and staff while the widows and the orphans go unnoticed. It’s almost as if the “church” has become a ‘let’s do the Sunday machine for the Sunday machines sake’ and ignore what the gospel actually is and what the Jesus movement actually is. All that to be said this podcast and the decisions it has made perfectly lines up with the the reasons why evangelicalism will not be the method God chooses to bring fourth his kingdom. In the coming generations. Everyone needs to wake up and see that the reformed evangelical faith tradition is a poisoned fruit and needs to be avoided. Jesus turned tables for far less. This mockery has gone on too long.
-
McBlevinsEvery episode is a must listen!!Yes the loss of Aimee Byrd is tough but the podcast is still amazing. Carl and Todd have great guests and talk about great topics and give book recommendations that hurts my wallet. Thankful for these two men (and still thankful for Aimee).
-
bentheleftyCancel Culture Comes to MOSAs others have said, while the content is deep and nuanced, Aimee’s removal and NO follow up or comment from Carl or Todd? Pusillanimous. You both should have let the podcast die. You spoke highly of her book and interviewed her about it. And now seem okay with her not being removed? You didn’t even defend her publicly. This screams of hypocrisy. Time to cancel cancel culture. And this podcast unfortunately.

The Tin SocietyAimee Byrd is gone...so am II’ve always liked this show, and I have great respect for Dr. Trueman. However, the Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals was wrong to remove Aimee Byrd the way they did. She is an important voice in the reformed evangelical space, and I always appreciated her perspective on different topics. I read her most recent book and found it helpful and very uncontroversial.
-
terri jesseeAn empty nestMortification of Spin needs a new name after ACE’s handling of the Aimee Byrd situation. I guess Mortifying Spin is tough when it’s your own crummy spin. I’ve enjoyed this podcast for years but now it seems a sham. Just tell us. Be honest.
-
xapis7Had to stop listeningThis podcast went off a cliff when they dropped Aimee Byrd. She was the glue that held it together and kept it interesting. Terrible decision.

CiaraAndersonDeeply disappointed in the removal of ByrdAs a reformed Presbyterian woman, the behavior towards Aimee Byrd hurts deeply. Having been a member of a bullying, patriarchal style church a number of years back, I just can’t bring myself to trust or support this show anymore. Not even a mention of thanks to Aimee on the first show back as regards how many of us she has blessed, encouraged to seek the Lord, delve deeper into theology and ultimately to “know Christ” whether we be male or female. Just an unfair accusation of “doxxing” rather than an acknowledgement of her years of valuable service. Based on the show’s previous recognition of the problems associated with “Big Eva”, it’s sad to see Carl and Todd drop the ball and not speak out publicly in defense of a friend and sister.
-
Will StrrnWhat happened to Aimee Byrd?I have appreciated this podcast for a long time. But I wish they would have addressed the dismissal of Aimee Byrd more directly. They are acting like she never existed. They discussed her controversial book a few months ago and never revisited it. If the book was so dangerous, then they should explain why, while giving her a chance to respond.
-
WinterlydoodlesNo Longer ListeningI’m extremely disappointed in how the ACE and the podcast seemed to drop Aimee Byrd with no thorough explanation. I loved listening to the podcast because it was a great combination of perspectives from academic and lay theologians. However, this behavior has completely turned me off to the podcast. Shame on them for participating in “cancel culture.”

scheidererGot Better!I had to stop listening for a few years because of Byrd and now that she is gone the show has really improved. The upset reviews are expected
-
116thDoctorEmpty NestHonestly not worth it without Aimee, and the circumstances surrounding it have left a sour taste in my mouth.
-
cpDuffySpin onlyI am so disappointed that Aimee Byrd is no longer on the podcast. I’ve been a listener for many years and enjoyed what I thought was camaraderie between the three hosts. Without her, it’s just two guys talking - you’ve lost what made you unique. Such a shame.
-
Sola SisterVery Disappointed In Your Treatment of Aimee Byrd. Unsubscribed.I used to love Mortification of Spin & listened for years. It was like a beacon on a hill for me, signaling to me that Christian men & women could both sit at the theological table together. I guess they really couldn’t. So I’ve unsubscribed. Sad today. Longing for heaven.
-
ealoveUnsubscribedDidn’t love the way Mrs. Byrd got dropped. She brought a helpful perspective to the mix, and plenty of listeners feel the same, it seems. Unsubscribed.

Mckinley CaughmanWhere’s AimeeWhat happen to Aimee Byrd?
-
sadanddisheartenedNo longer listeningI am very sad to see Aimee go. She was a bright spot on this podcast. I will be following her on twitter @aimeebyrdhwt and on her blog.
-
sarahlin<3For shameThe way you all treated Aimee Bryd is disgraceful. I have been a long time subscriber(at least two years) but I cannot support the way you have treated her or the way you have silenced her and dismissed her for simply having the AUDACITY(heavy sarcasm) to call the church to do better in discipling men and women. For shame
-
emccunninghamNo longer interested without AimeeAimee Byrd added tremendous luster and a great perspective from an unordained but thoughtful and informed layperson. Without her, I’m no longer interested in listening. It was a good run while it lasted...
-
bwddthpnchAlliance of Confessing Evangelicals Screwed UpI don’t come from a Reformed background but appreciated the insights of this crew. Aimee Byrd was a bright spot on this podcast. With her gone, I can guarantee it will not have nearly the balance or nuance it had before, though Carl Trueman is always insightful. The dumpster fire of patriarchy that is reformed evangelicalism and the Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals has once again ruined a good thing.
-
H05114Extremely Disappointed“Sad departure” is the very definition of spin. Y’all are killin’ nothing. Unsubscribed, no longer listening.
-
taylor151720DisappointedLove the podcast but not at all happy with Amy’s departure and unfair treatment.

PAndy301Time Critical ReviewI've enjoyed the insights from the gang in the past, but saddened by the departure of Aimee. I don't know the story, but the view from the outside looking in is concerning. It seems as if evangelicals too can play the cancel culture game. ACE, how is this demonstrating the love of Christ? Isn't this just a power play like the rest of the world? That's how it looks to an outsider. Or to put it a bit more sarcastically: What is the best way to convince the world that the evanglical church is chock full of the white, heteronormative, patriarchy espoused in all that scary critical theory stuff? I don't know, maybe booting off the woman who was advancing respectful dialog about gender issues?
-
mlc_20Lost its balanceI have listened to this podcast for over 5 years. As a guy, husband, and father of 2 daughters, I have appreciated the views on key theological and church issues that Aimee brought to the discussion to help me better understand all perspectives. Nothing against Carl (whose books I have read) and Todd, but this podcast has gone from one of the best to just like many others. It is sad to see the way Aimee was treated and dismissed from this team without a true explanation and respect. I will be moving on from this one.

Tired of the boys' clubEvangelical men have learned nothingThe podcast is flat without the complementary voice of Aimee Byrd who is not just an encouragement for women but all lay people, as well. Shame on Carl and Todd for continuing without her.
