hangel11Laziest journalism everDecent narration but you do an episode on fighting in hockey and you choose to rehash the Derek Boogard story?? I believe this case has been well covered, no? A writer for the NY Times wrote a mediocre book about it that was a bestseller. This is a polarizing and exhaustive topic, and one that deserves to be treated with care. Instead we get the one story everybody has heard already. I think the topic, and your audience deserves better. Way to phone it in. Why don’t go out on a limb and cover the Theranos story next episode?

yak blexitInterestingIt’s interesting to learn about things in Canada. There is definitely a slant to their reporting. The host is definitely racist as well. If you can wade through his often whiny and very beta male personality and racist views, it’s a fun listen.

hardtolisten22334some of the best journalism out thereu want in depth investigative analysis without the cringeworthy and effete liberal/conservative biases of the CBC or the extreme Right reactionary tendencies of the Sun? then check this pod out. truly top notch journalism, and many timely topics are covered. this season on canada’s real estate problem is already shaping up to be a much needed dose of sensibility, and an excellent companion to their previous season on canada’s dynasties. their prior season on policing was excellent too. i mean, its all good, imo, so i cant recommend enough that u check it out!

KateC247Canadian authoritarian approach to corruptionsounds great at first, but then after you listen to a little bit you realize that they have the same authoritarian personality that so many other Canadians have. Basically lobbying for more police, more laws, more restrictions on fundamental liberties, they might as well go work for CBC.

WhyitsaliLoved DYNASTIES!I loved the DYNASTIES seasons so much I was sad when they ended. Informative, easy, fun listening. I always learn something new and enjoy the storytelling. As a Canadian living in the states, I love staying connected to home through this podcast.

St.GirouxExcellent journalism, lackluster productionThis season on corruption features the excellent investigative reporting I’ve come to expect from Canadaland and its affiliated shows, however, elements of the production make Commons an aggravating listening experience. Audio packages and soundbites fluctuate from inaudibly quiet (see: Barack Obama in the first minutes of episode 3; many of the bed music interludes), to in-the-red loud at other moments. In one single segment, around 20:00mins in ep. 3, host Arshy Mann’s voice goes from too-quiet to too-loud with no interlude. It’s a fantastic show, but the listening experience both in headphones and external speakers, is poor.

GishmilishI always learn something newThe hosts are delightful and go in-depth on a range of current and historical topics, especially stuff relating to POCs and indigenous people in Canada, which, as an American, I can vouch for as being an area the American media doesn't really cover so well. I feel like understanding Canada is interesting in its own right, but also helps me understand the US from a new perspective. Beautifully produced and definitely wins the best theme music award, as far as I'm concerned.

JMait7Getting good! The last few episodes have been so good! I can’t wait to see what’s in store for this show! Love it!

Cherisse23Great discussionsI love Canadaland Commons for the in depth and informative discussions. They have shone light on things happening in our country that many would otherwise been blind to.
