Joe @ IBRUmmmm…this might be too good? How do you make a no-fluff podcast with such good vibes? Cool, smart people! The episodes are 30 minutes long and are filled with up-to-date book marketing advice and news. (The Goodreads delay episode and Penny’s experience with book description emojis are good examples of the type of actionable learning moments you’ll get here.). Penny and Amy know a ton, they work hard, and they come with years of experience. The perfect during the dishes podcast. Big ups to the hosts & the AME team!

SkiffymomDeep industry knowledgeThis dynamic duo has considerable depth of knowledge about the contemporary (mostly USA) publishing world, and they’re savvy marketers. Kind of Amazon-heavy in focus, but again: USA. My one complaint is that they aren’t the most organized speakers, and they go off on (topic-related) tangents so it will be a challenge to take notes on an outline. But the knowledge makes it a worthwhile listen.

PodcastListener2025I like the show……and I like how the two hosts tell it like it is. No sugarcoating is appreciated!!

Susan Dormady EisenbergKindle UnlimitedA Superb Overview of KDP These podcasts are a lifesaver. I am learning so much from Penny and Amy and can’t wait to learn more. I am working on a new ms. that I might self-publish and I need the specific info that you are covering. Thanks so much!

bettyprideI finally found you!I am a self published debut novelist, who is also a marketer, but marketing books is a whole ‘nuther universe. I have clicked on and listened to countless podcasts about marketing books, but none are as good as this one. I love the practical advice and the strategic way it is presented. I love the honest feedback. These women are true teachers. This podcast is absolute gold for authors new or old to the industry trying to break it all down. Thank you so much!

MerryBrossThank you!As an author, this is the podcast I needed five years ago and today. I’m so glad to have found this podcast and the hosts are so entertaining as well- never boring.
-
NomemolestesmosquitoInformative and ShortIf you are new in the self-publishing business, this is an excellent podcast to follow to learn and avoid pitfalls. I like that it is only 30-min long.

pudgy judgeObsessedI’m publishing my first book in less than a month and I can’t stop listening to this podcast. This is one of the most valuable resources I’ve come across. I wish I had found it sooner!

C. M. CarrollTreasure Trove for All GenresRegardless of your genre, this podcast is definitely worth your time. I decided to listen from the beginning to the present (so I’ve been binge-listening for about two months!) and am so glad I did. They cover everything from social media marketing to catalogs and subscription boxes, when to prep holiday marketing strategies, all things Amazon (which is necessary because that’s a whole different world), Goodreads. You name it. And please do yourself a favor - keep notes! You’ll think you’ll remember later, but there’s such a wealth of information in every episode that it’s just not possible to remember it all. Plus, it’ll help to have the notes for reference later. (I also bought all the books and am planning to work with Penny and Amy as soon as I can. They have officially won me over!) Oh and they’re responsive, too. I’ve emailed a few times now, and they’re always quick to get back to me! Thank you, ladies, for that and for all you’re teaching me through this podcast. I hope to make you proud.

Rob HilliardExcellent ResourceI stumbled onto this podcast a few months ago and I’m really enjoying it. Each episode is short and to the point, honing in on specific topics that are useful for authors to understand. The hosts are enjoyable to listen to and there are actionable tips in nearly every episode.

Tom Polk DallasBook Marketing Tips And Author SucceszI listen to the podcasts while I’m cleaning house, usually on Saturdays, the day after drop. Have also worked about half way through the backlist. I threw a couple of literary books up on Kdp and got no traction because I knew less than a little about marketing them (at least hopefully that was the reason). Thanks to the podcasts, I won’t make that mistake again.
-
CrazyquillLots of practical advice!I’m a traditionally published author of 4 books and these ladies are still teaching me so much I don’t know about the biz!

MC wisdomInvaluable and practicalI began listening to this podcast months ago when I was still searching for an agent. Once that was done, it took time to find a publishing company. All the while I was listing to this brilliant, funny and practical podcast. By the time I was offered a contract, I had listened to dozens of shows and I really understood what I was reading in the contract - and not all of it was good. I was able to bring up specifics that were not beneficial enough to me and get them changed. Besides being lots of fun to listen to, this show prepares authors for the work of selling books. You can be a great writer, but still not sell much beyond your family and friends and for most of us, marketing requires a learning curve. This podcast takes the mystery out of the process. Thank you, Amy and Penny!

GA/TNIncredibly helpful!I’m getting my first book published, and this podcast has been very helpful in understanding this strange new world I find myself in. I wish I had found this podcast years ago. There’s not much drifting off the subject, making every minute usable and valuable. It is smart, and both podcasters have a great deal of experience. They both are book publicists for hire they, but are freely sharing good information here. I’m listening to all episodes, and am the better for it. - McP

Saint LeoSubtitles and KeywordsPenny and Amy, I just heard your podcast “The Amazon Machine is Changing Again” and, once again, I wished I could go back and change all my subtitles. But it is a great lesson and I will not forget it. Cheers, Kim Megahee

17plsyAuthor Education at its BestI have published ten books, taken tons of coaching and had some great success with some of my books as well as not so much with others. My latest book is so different from the others that it is like starting from scratch in marketing it. The information I am getting from these podcasts is helping me so, so much! The book I am marketing now is a local city guidebook and the podcast on “Why promoting locally can be a GOLDMINE” is the best for me as it’s a local book but so worth the 18 minute listen for any book. I feel like a prospector thats been panning every mountain stream I come across and just found nuggets that are valuable, actionable and doable just for the listening. Can’t wait to keep learning and growing from this

sl conoverMaking Marketing Engaging and FunI wanted to add my two-cents to the reviews. It’s obvious that Penny and Amy have a LOT of experience to share. I’ve found something useful in every episode, including the mini ones. Plus, they sound like they’re having a great time together. I smiled a lot on the gym’s elliptical and I didn’t expect that! Thanks so much for your guidance Penny and Amy!
-

Dr. Mary DFabulous, Focused and Fun!Wow! These podcasts are so helpful, concise, focused and fun! I have learned so much from them. I’ve written a much better elevator pitch/log line after hearing that episode. Other episodes have helped me to know what’s important before I launch my novel, and so much more! These really are about author success! Thank you, Penny and Amy.
-
Ms. HSPractical and HelpfulI’ve been binge listening to this podcast and already made some quick tweaks and updates to my book marketing (inspired me to do some Goodreads maintenance). And I’ve got notes for more tasks like incorporating video. Penny and Amy are knowledgeable and Frank about the industry and what mistakes and innovations they see authors making.

Lalee PopTimely, Timeless, Inspired & InspiringI LOVED the episode about how launching a book is like launching a business. That took the pressure off me to succeed from the outset (though I still work on their great actionable tips) and look at my writing and books from a business standpoint —success is attainable, but it’s not overnight. Plus, great reminder to celebrate all the little things along the way. Thanks Penny and Amy!
-
JS1076Useful infoMarketing can be a real pain point for most authors. The podcast offers easily understandable tips and info that make that process easier!

Coni KnepperEverything I need as an author!Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! How have I not known about you two amazing women? Can’t stop listening. This is the fist day and I have listened to several posts. The Podcast on “Amazon is not the only way to sell books.” Yes, I have my books on Amazon, but I also push my Shopify account. Looks like a website, sells books, keeps great records for me, AND it’s not expensive. My site brings in lots more profit and sells books daily than on my Amazon account. Listened also to the podcast on GoodReads. So much information. Again, thank you ladies. In HIM, Coni Knepper. P.S. Huge new FAN!!!

class act pressCan’t stop listeningI, too, stumbled on this podcast by accident, but, after listening to just one episode, I couldn’t stop listening. Penny and Amy present all their information very clearly, but without my thinking they’re talking down to me (a semi-inexperienced writer). I’m looking forward to all the other episodes, and then I’m going back an listen to them again.

Mangoblue_kevI booked a consultationI learned so much from the podcast that I booked a consultation with Penny. I think that’s the best review anyone can give.

cooldude24Enjoyable & informativeI’m a first time listener & enjoyed this podcast. There are two things that I’d like to mention regarding reviews: First off, Amazon has started taking down reviews of friends & family. It happened to me a month ago on ALL of my books (I have 11) - each book lost 4-6 reviews overnight & these are books that have been published for a couple of years. When I reached out to Amazon multiple times, I was given the standard list of rules - no exact reason. Disappointing for sure, but other author friends said AMS is cracking down on reviews left by family & friends & even super fans following on social media. It’s happened to several of my author friends this year - not just me. Also, I leave a “letter” in my back-matter on my books (great advice) But be warned if you use the Amazon link for the reader to click to take them to the Amazon page to leave the review, if they are using an iPhone, it’s a dead link. I guess Apple & Amazon don’t play well together. Doesn’t happen on any other devices, just Apple. I read from my Kindle ap on my phone & can’t tell you how many times I’ve tried to leave a review using my iPhone & the link doesn’t work. I just use my laptop now to leave reviews because I know how important reviews are to authors. I look forward to diving in to more episodes! Thanks for all the great reminders & information!

nkcreativeListen now!As a book designer, I want to learn as much as possible about book marketing. This podcast offers great advice and info. Love the minisodes! I like sharing these episodes with other authors so they can learn, too. The hosts are very knowledgeable—they are experts in self-publishing. The only thing that bothers me is the sound quality. Sometimes it’s fine, and other times, it’s “tinny” and the levels are unequal.
-
DO NOT BUY-PIRATED COPYIt’s like having a chat with friends...I love that Penny and Amy are so down to earth. It truly feels like I’m sitting by down to catch up with friends. I laugh, I learn, and I can relate to a lot of what they speak on. The minisodes are phenomenal little quick hits of knowledge that I can listen to when I’m in between tasks. Whether your an author or work with in the book industry, there’s a lot of great information to be had from this podcast.
-
coach cherie transformI’m loving the show!First off, I love how unfiltered the show is! Also, I love the education you are providing. I have been bench-watching. I have too many take-ups away, but here is what I'm implementing while I'm writing. Building my author platform up, making book recommendations, and letting everyone know I'm making my book.
-
pdfoxdoyle789Bad technical qualityThe music playing during the whole episode is very distracting. And the sound quality is poor. And I want to listen to this podcast, but can’t because of quality issues.
-
Irma ProsserEasy to digest tips for the noviceI’m a first time author currently marketing my book before publication and I am LOVING this podcast. I know NOTHING of marketing, let alone book marketing. But since listening to these great people, I’ve been able to get some successes under my belt for a *hopefully* very successful book launch. Keep making more episodes and I’ll keep recommending you! Thank you so much! IrmaProsser.com

pwei7gfI’m so tornI recently discovered this podcast. These ladies have an amazing, wonderful wealth of information to share! But their delivery of it tends to gravitate towards the snarky and mean. They act like a pair of friends laughing about the “stupid” things people say in their emails- appropriate, perhaps, over a glass of wine, but not in a podcast that’s supposed to help people! I don’t know what I don’t know and that’s why I want to hear what they have to say; I don’t want to feel mocked for not knowing. I just wish their delivery was more compassionate. So I’m torn. I want to learn from them and was excited that I had found this amazing resource, but I don’t know if I can stomach listening to it. Sorry, ladies. I hope you don’t mind the feedback.

Sky We MakeHelpful and friendly resourceMy first book is coming out from a traditional publisher in 2 months and this is a super helpful resource. The two hosts are knowledgeable and accessible. The short mini-episodes are a nice snack-sized bite. Two things I’d love to see: The conversational tone is great, but it sometimes feels like episodes could be shorter and snappier. I’d love a to-do list in the show notes and/or an overview and summary of the key takeaways and most important action points for authors from each episode. Personally I find it distracting to have music playing constantly in the background under the hosts speaking on the shorter episodes. Thank you two for putting this out there to help authors!!
-
Jenny LiskGreat resource!I just discovered this show yesterday when I heard Penny Sansevieri interviewed on the IBPA podcast. I’ve already listened to several episodes and several more minisodes. Will make time to listen to at least a dozen more in the next week as my first book launches next month and this is all very timely. Thanks for this terrific resource!
-
Htown Mom321Great Book Marketing Tips!!Loved the episode on holiday marketing! I’m planning on adding holiday bows to my ebooks. Thanks for the creative suggestions.
