Cat T CajunMisguided Political ViewsI was really enjoying Sawbones until I came upon the Project 2025 podcast, which highlighted that evidently the McElroys took the rhetoric of the left (that had the media portray Project 2025 as the plans of President Trump) as truth. Talk about Misguidedā¦Wow, how ironic! I know you are āeducated ā individuals-so do some critical thinking for yourself, rather than swallowing what the Misguided media baits you with. Or just keep politics out of the podcast and deliver what you advertise; a block of time for listeners to relax, have fun, and laugh!

Portlander from LouisianaSo edifying and so funThis is in my top 5 favorite podcasts! From time to time, I go on a Sawbones bender; I binge dozens of episodes in the span of a few days. Recently I was talking to my ob-gyn and I mentioned that I listen to a medical history podcast. She asked for the name and I proudly exclaimed āSawbones!!!ā

greenquiltthank you justin and dr. sydnee!Iām an undergrad student, and Iāve been listening to this podcast on and off since I was 15 and we were in heavy lockdown. I recently got back into it, and I turned on an episode while I made tea after my walk this morning. Iām working on a few of political and historical essays which have felt too heavy to manage at times, and because I have a feeling that creating this show might be similarly overwhelming right now, I wanted to tell you how nice it is to listen to two kind, sane, thoughtful, informed people update me on the news. This podcast is just as grounding to me now as it was in 2020, and Iām so grateful for all the effort you put into it.

SledReynaldsDonāt listen to the right wing hatersThe show is great and showing people you stand with them is far more important than pleasing everyone. Proud to be a McElroy family fan but especially when you all speak out for whatās right. Love sawbones.
-
metalheadmanguyGreat podcastI've entered the topsy-turvy world where sawbines explains the John Birch Society. Feels bad, but great show!
-
Damonke____Amazing.I first found out about this podcast when I was in the car with my Grandma, I then started listening to it during a car ride with my other Grandma. only 2 episodes in and itās really good! Great work Justin and Sydnee!
-
AnjieO85Absolutely the bestComedy and education combined. What could be better? Love this show
-
Kimster61No politicsI love this podcast. I wanna put that right out there. But in listening to the episode about kleptomania Iād like to ask Justin and Sydnee, please leave politics out of this podcast. Please, please be the only podcast that doesnāt take pot shots at political figures however well deserved you think the criticism to be.
-
Allison SharknadoSensationalI first start listening this podcast because I enjoy weird medical history mistakes humans have made through the ages. It makes me appreciate more where we are in science and medicine, even though the conditions are tough! Dr. Sydney is a wonderful science explainer and Justin brings the comedic break you might not have known you needed an episode. This is also usually a great podcast to listen to with family since there are no big swears!
-
theothergingerFunny and informativeA gem of the podcast internet

DrCharmandaIāve listened to every single episodeI love this podcast so much! It is one of my top three most listened to podcasts, along with Ologies and This Podcast Will Kill You. Iām a medical nerd working in cardiology research. This podcast consistently scratches my learning itch and exposes me to subjects I never would have thought about. Sydnee and Justin have a great mix of knowledge, humor, and chemistry. I love the balance of modern and historical perspectives, and feel it does a great job of laying out why and how humans make the weird medical decisions that they do. I also appreciate that Sydnee makes a huge effort to help listeners understand what those facing oppression and terrible life circumstances are going through, especially people experiencing homelessness and those addicted to drugs. She presents these topics in a way that help create understanding and empathy for people who are often overlooked and marginalized.

Honest Drunkard O'MalleyMedical history is the history of scienceThis show is fantastic. They name and shame the politics and biases that negatively impact healthcare and the science of medicine. The history is informative and jokes are entertaining.
-
JdjsnskfKeeps getting worseEvery episode is a leftwing political rant now. Jokes and all efforts to discus medical history have left the room months ago. The show has become a challenging listen. I think theyāve already have an end date picked out and are just letting her vent her crazy before the last sponsor contract ends and they can close up shop.
-
rn838Used to be goodI used to listen to this podcast because it was informative, but entertaining. I could learn something about medicine but still have a laugh. Lately, all theyāre doing is talking politics, at least at the beginning of the show. I listen to podcasts like this to get away from the craziness of modern events in the world, not to be reminded of it. I will no longer be listening to Sawbones.
-
YakikoAmazing show, reminds you to laugh in these dark timesDr Sydney and Justin have gotten me through a lot of rough days. Not just the podcast itself, but Dr. Sydney's constant affirmation of how important the truth is and why we need medical professionals who care, listen, and are committed to learning. What an amazing person!! Justin has been in several podcasts in my weekly rotation for years and his goofiness and relatability as a laymen makes the show that much more enjoyable. Hearing his familiar voice helps remind me to take the time to laugh and seek treasured moments when the world seems like it's never going to give up. Re: the person concerned that Sawbones hasn't had an episode on Gazaā while this is a valid concern and entertainers should be held accountable, you cannot rush and make light of that subject matter and I'm sure our hosts would want to do as much research as possible before presenting something like that to us, just like they have when breaching any other tough topics that they have in the past. Please don't give into reactivity, there is 0 doubt that the McElroys support the people of Palestine, as they've shown through their actions, care, and donations. We cannot scorch Earth with those who care just because they are not meeting your specific expectations. We know where they stand, they have not been vague.
-
1tourtie1Medicine is politicalIāve seen people get mad because this podcast gets ātoo politicalā. Hey newsflash, people are dying and being refused care because of politics. Being alive and healthy isnāt a luxury itās a right that is constantly threatened! I love Sydnee even more for holding accountable the politicians with no medical experience making decisions about other peopleās lives with little to no regard. I hope she keeps doing it and empowering her peers to do the same.
-
meowwwww69Just say free Palestine good lordI was an avid listener of Sawbones for years but I am incredibly disappointed that you wonāt take on an episode about Israelās complete destruction of Gazaās medical system and kidnapping/killing/maiming of medical staff there. I know that you all will take on tough issues like abortion and trans rights. Why not Palestine? The medical staff there who work through bombings and shooting, who stay with their patients until they are forced to leave by armed forces⦠they deserve better.
-
jjjttt15I donāt even like medicine, but I love SawbonesSawbones consistently provides well-researched, hilariously delivered, fascinating information. One of the most fun and most useful podcasts out there! The hosts are honest and relatable as well, wish I could take them out for a beer.
-
Kaarleyythis podcast is part of my personality nowi am equally proud and embarrassed over how dedicated iāve been to this podcast for the past 8 years. yāall are my family.

TheBerryMasterAwesome!15/5 stars, for a 300% funny!

LadyherdfanGreat show!Just heard about your show today while listening to Friendly Atheist podcast. Jessica Bluemke, the host, gave you a shoutout. Being a fellow West Virginian I immediately looked up your show. So happy I did. Perfect mix of information, humor and heart šThank you!
-
Kaptain BobGreat podcast, informative and entertainingThis is my first podcast review, posted exclusively to counteract one of the many 1-star reviews from butthurt low information republicans.
-
BrookokomoAmazing showThese two seem to have a great relationship and great chemistry that mixes education with comedy. I love learning something from Sydney while also listening to Justin make dumb jokes. One of my favorite podcasts to listen to. Learn something new every episode!
-
T2973Use to be a good podcast.Loved the show, loved these two. But, it has consistently gone down hill largely due to it being a political agenda podcast. Furthermore, anyone who listens, that does not agree with the hosts political beliefs, is a bad person. And this show will make you feel like a bad person for having your own opinions. Miss the old show. I will unsubscribe and spread the word of the true direction of the podcast.
-
seth81Political opinion podcastI came for interesting and comical stories. I left with a bunch of leftist opinions not based on science.

Audrey dog wAWESOMEThis podcast is very well done. It delivers medical history in a fun, family friendly way, and is very funny. As a 9 year old I love it and there are so many cool things to learn about.
-
AirtravelerLiberal BiasI thought I would like this show but I was very disappointed that they are disregarding over half the country on the important issues facing us all. I donāt think they do much reading on their own because if they did they would think differently. For a start maybe read The NY Times best seller āThe Real Anthony Fauci: Bill Gates Big Pharma and the Global War on Democracy and Public Health ā by Robert F Kennedy Jrā. A real eye opener! If it wasnāt true Iām sure there would be plenty of lawsuits! Please donāt insult half your audience! I have unsubscribed.
-
hhhbffxcLove these twoInitially I started listening for the funny delivery of interesting medical history but as Iāve listened and time has passed I find myself so heartwarmed by them and their care for others and interest in community health and well-being. Their clear and cogent understanding of the intersection of politics and science are welcome and reaffirming.
-
twyla_danceEntertaining science-based medicine informationInformative, science based and funny. What more could we ask for?
-
slugs3000worlds evilest antgoooooooo sydnee and justin !!
-
Anne AthemaWell made, but surface level information at bestThe hosts are charismatic and itās an easy listen podcast. However, Dr. Sydnee will often speak confidently about topics in which she clearly has no expertise or sufficient research. For every 30 min podcast, about 25 minutes of it is broadly speculation, advertisement, and Sydnee virtue-signaling about social issues. This podcast is great if you donāt have any medical/biological background and are looking for a good way to tune out for 30 minutes under the auspices of listening to something semi-educational.
-
Louise HardisonMiss the old saw bonesI miss when the show was about wacky medical history and not new age stuff :/
-
CutekitenLove the show, wish it was more sensory friendlyI love listening to this show, I love learning about everything they provide on this show. I just wish the intro wasnāt so loud, I have to skip it every time instead of just listening through because it hurts my ear . Other than that, itās a great show!
-
A BransoniteSmart and funnyThis show will teach you some wild and cool history, a little bit of real medicine, and overall itās very calming and diverting.
-
Temecula FamilyJustin jumps into politicsšI have a big problem with Justinās comments during the episode on Triple E⦠He wants to blame health officials for the problems with the government response to COVID. Does he not remember that Trump and some of his followers kept working against the CDCs efforts and denying that the problem was as great as it was as? Trump and others were ridiculing CDC leaders. So if a lot of people are wary of the CDC, how is that the CDCs fault? I know this show tries to stay away from politics, but when Justin states dishonest political talking points, he swings the door wide open to politics. Bad move, Justin.
-
DiversxoxoThank youJustin and Sydnee, I just want to say thank you for making this podcast all these years. I have listened to every single one of your episodes multiple times. I started listening when I was in my sophomore year of college and I am now a PA and have been practicing for 4 years. The passion, humor, and lightheartedness that you bring to medicine has honestly gotten me through my years of schooling and practice. I can always count on one of your episodes to give me some laughter and uplift my mood. Thanks for all you do for your patients, medicine, the community, and for me. Sincerely, A loyal listener
-
swheeler5šif youāll notice all of the 1-2 star reviews complaining about politics have spelling/grammar errors, so you do the math.
-
trying to identify a treeMammogramI canāt believe that as a physician, Sydney doesnāt know the difference between a mammographer and a nurse. It is insulting enough that Iāve deleted your show
-
Daily_cassUndeniably CHICLots of fun to listen to the information and the banter.
-
limp_triscuitGood medicineThe format is simple enough: an expert on medical topics (Dr. Sydney) explains them to her non-expert husband (Justin) and us. The intro suggests an hour but itās over in 25 minutes. Excellent podcast.
-
loftmothOne of my favorites butWhy is Justinās voice so low in the mix? When I listen with headphones itās mostly fine but way too often I have to crank the volume and rewind to hear what he says and then itās way too loud when Sydnee comes back in. Listening in the car is especially difficult. This is also the case in MBMBAM but to a lesser degree. I wanna hear Justinās silly tidbits!
-
lowercase librarianHistory and Science and Jokes, Oh My!This is my absolute favorite podcast! I love any show which can make me laugh and teach me something at the same time, and Sawbones achieves a perfect balance of education and comedy. Iāve also loved the evolution of the show over the years, and I appreciate Sydnee and Justinās willingness now to address contemporary topics and share their position on current issues while still giving us all the fascinating medical trivia weāve enjoyed since the beginning of Sawbones. If youāre a history nerd who champions information literacy and social justice, this is the show for you!
-
natasha_jamesGreat for playing āspot the propaganda!āMe and my friends love playing a little game called āspot the propaganda!ā Seriously this podcast is a gem for that!! If youāre interested in learning more about the psychology of logic bullies and reality police, than this is the podcast for you! Itās been very entertaining for us all and had given us great laughs!
-
Coffebeans?Possibly the best podcast ever madeWow keep up the good work
