Integrity in journalism for once

I specially appreciated the Excellent discussion of the current situation in Palestine/ Israel.

This show used to be pretty good. Robbie seems totally lost. Like, I don’t give a crap what MTG or Klandice Owens is saying about Israel and Palestine in “bad faith” when liberals are the problem right now. Feels like Robbie just isn’t dealing with his own liberal biases that are outdated and are finally really showing how annoying they are. It was never really great, but it’s just painful to listen to his weird reflexive hatred for another side while being seemingly clueless about how the democrats and the fake left have led us to where we are. This is not left analysis, this is liberal analysis. It’s sad to see. I used to really like this podcast, and subscribed to it for years.

The fact that these two can keep doing what they are doing after seeing so much horror in this world is beyond me. I’m so thankful for what they do at shining a light on these evils.

This is quality content

A friend sent me a link to 1 episode of this show and I almost could not finish it. A delusional and either willfully ignorant or very partisan fellow whines for 1.5 hours. All while slandering, misrepresenting and directly lying about the subject he’s supposedly covering. It’s sad that this is under “news” but not surprising. Now to go hurl and sob over the time I will never get back.

I've been a fan of this show and the work of Abby's work for some years. Sadly this podcast with her brother has soured my view of Abby and ruined her brother Robbie altogether. His bitter cynicism makes the show unlistenable now. Everyone that has a thought in their head different than Robbie or Abby is either unintelligent, an evil right-winger, or a grifter lying for some other motive. Never once do they seem to consider reasonable people, that even agree most of the time, can come to different conclusions without being less intelligent, a secret conservative, or a grifter. Their sad tribalism is the same sin their numerous political and/or news personality "enemies" suffer from. If you want progressives views from a sad, bitter cynic you should download and listen to Robbie Martin spew his toxic, nonproductive tribalism into your ears via this podcast. Otherwise you should skip it and maybe just listen/view/support Abby's other media ventures that don't include her brother's input.

This is the perfect choice for anyone interested in learning more about the latest news! Each episode is informative and enjoyable.

Like Covid hasn’t become a cult? It’s out in the open about bill gates and geo engineering. Been going on quite a while. Conspiracy theories can easily be verified if you want. Spain and the United Nations recently sprayed their population via chemtrails in order to help eliminate Covid. Easily sourced. I never ever listened to Alex Jones in the beginning.Interesting though how a lot of conspiracy theories or later proved to be true as you mentioned

In all honesty, once you’ve finished the longer series on the Patreon there’s no reason to continue contributing as most months the premium episode gets released for free anyway. Robbie does some good analysis but would really benefit from trying to focus a little bit and get his points out faster and more succinctly. Most episodes have no reason to be 2+ hours but are that long just so he can ramble (relatively coherently and sensibly, to be fair) about neoconservatism. I agree with almost everything he says, I just get tired of the tangents that go nowhere lol. Also yeah, when Abby starts cursing you’re better off just fast forwarding through the segment. Most of the time it comes across as righteously indignant towards an audience she’s ostensibly trying to persuade. Like I agree with you… tell me what to do to help instead of just asking me to fund your next project

I think Robbie has done great work in the past on the Anthrax ordeal. But I can’t make it past 40 minutes typically(and I really try to listen). These two have zero self awareness. Perfect example was Abby’s description of Jordan Peterson all the while doing the exact thing she claimed he does. There’s these outbursts that sound like a spoiled child that says the F bomb every other word. Robbie isn’t as bad, but he comes off like the out of touch pretentious liberal he is. Also, no I’m not right wing

Robbie does a great job with the music for each episode. The research he does is high quality and delves into unusual places to learn amazing things. He is fearless in his critique of powerful people and journalists.Abby is a fantastic journalist with grade integrity. They are both truly independent and honest.

Mainly because Abby & Robbie have fantastic chemistry. Robbie is a great investigator with a brilliant curiosity and humor. Abby is really inspiring and I love listening to her so elegantly and passionately talk about anything and everything.

Unlike many podcasts. Analysis of the techniques of Power is necessary to fight the power. Capitalism is so desperately trying to maintain Hegemony it has created domestic chaos to divide us. The escalation of “civil warism”, racism and pollution is creating “unlivable sectors” within the large cities. Let’s all fight back!

Heard Robbie on Whitney Webb’s podcast and decided to give him a listen. After I heard him and Abby pretend that Joe Biden actually won and that there was no mass fraud… LOL. Just CNN parrots.

Russiagate split the entire left in the US down the middle. So we had two factions, one that was anti-establishment, critical of the mainstream media, and saw little hope in the democrat party. The other faction aligned more with the corporate liberal media and the DNC. Then covid comes along and splits the anti-establishment faction again, with each side repeating the pattern from Russiagate. Sadly, leftist media that opposed the ruling power structure after Russiagate lost more giants from its ranks after covid propaganda infected their brains. Abby was our most devastating loss from this battle. Her brilliant past work will live on forever and i’m sure a new generation will become inspired by her example. It’s always hard losing a comrade, and I wish Abby and her family all the best in their future, but I know that will ultimately be a different direction than before.

I lost so much respect for Abby Martin after the ‘Rehabilitating Cheney’ episode. I would fully halt consuming any more of her content if she wasn’t so on point with her coverage of the MIC. So excruciatingly vitriolic on a topic that both she and Robbie have, admittedly, neglected to do thorough research on. Which is so confusing, considering their tendency to dig into other topics. I get that her content inhabits a space that overlaps with those strongly opposed to current restrictions and requirements, such that she encountered flack on social media for decisions she’d decided to share publicly, and that that wasn’t a super supportive message to encounter on Twitter, but the lampooning she got is by orders of magnitude smaller in intensity and frequency than what the skeptical and hesitant are currently being bombarded with daily. I’m just worry that those that might be looking right now for alternative research and obscured historiographies will be alienated from learning from you, due to your vociferous condemnation on a topic you’ve both consigned yourselves to not deep dive into.

Robbie said the Kyle Rittenhouse episode would be a litmus test, it sure was! KR, in his opinion, went to Kenosha purely to start trouble. Didn’t he hear him calling out asking if anyone needed a medic? From the very beginning I saw a video of him explaining his aim to help people. (I don’t remember the details, my impression was that he was incredibly altruistic.) There are pictures of him cleaning graffiti. He is seen with a medical kit and a fire extinguisher. So there are the receipts to back up the opposite of Robbie’s claim that he wanted to start trouble. Then a very dark notion that Robbie lays out about cops is just too twisted: a significant number of cops harbor a murder fantasy! Yeah, there are some very sick people out there; no doubt. But to paint that picture about police is just not helpful, it’s really counterproductive. Police background checks are extremely intensive, nowadays they look really hard to weed out creeps, the last thing a police force wants is bad press. The vast majority of applicants don’t pass the background check, and for what most people would consider really small issues. So this podcast seems to a good example of how distorted our viewpoints can be. Maybe my viewpoint is also whacked out. I hope not, because I have a much brighter view of at least these two topics than Robbie does, and try to withhold judgment, especially if is so negative.

Stop with the Collin Powell attack. At best he is a go along to be a player person. Don’t piss off one of your best allies! Powell did what he had to do to be the first black person to get to all of the positions he got to. He did not keep his chief of staff for all the years if they were not on the same page. Don’t piss him off, he is on your side. You are 5* but sometimes we seem to be in a circular firing squad for anyone that is not perfect. Yes we need to move the left to the left, but when there is someone that is leaning left from a difficult position, don’t bleeping cut their knees out. Stop attacking the middle, it will move, if the people move. We need to move those just outside of the middle, attacks on Powell will get them to dig in their heels. As a black man he gave up and turned the other cheek a lot to get where he got. It should have been a non story. His number 1 has dished out all of the dirt and reasons that their needed to be. You fell into the partisan trap, you are either good or bad. We know who the bad guy are. Yes we did some horrible things in those times. But he never flipped and now he is gone. So what is the point in pointing out what he did that he was directed to do. There is no one in Bush or Chenny’s staff that has come out with any remorse. Powell’s number 2 did. That deserves a little. You do a lot of really good work.

My Comment on Abby’s comment on the show about the Ugandan episode being overlooked. I loved your show on Uganda I thought it was one of the best researched and most original content available. I was a little disappointed that it was so short lived and your shows went back to the normal hot topics. That said I am a listener to all your reporting, even your perspectives on the mainstream common fare topics. But would really love to hear more pioneering research and reporting on this show and Empire files. Thank you

Robbie Martin & Abbie Martin time and time again show their integrity, especially with how much their political understanding grows with the show. They’ve always dived into interesting stories, but their focus on reality has only gotten better over time. Great to listen and learn.

I have been familiar with Abbey Martin for sometime now & that is what drew me to the podcast. It is important that there is a venue for dialogue that is not beholden to mainstream media. While I don’t agree with all of Abbey & Robbie’s opinions it encourages me to think outside of the crap that is presented to us daily via media. Thanks.

I stumbled upon Abbys investigative journalism which led me to this show and Empire Files. Abby and Robby do a great job giving facts and stories about the US empire you don’t find easily. I know every time a new episode comes out it’s going to be discussing something I haven’t heard somewhere else. Great podcast. Highly recommend.

These folks know the news and the forces behind the news. They are willing to speculate, but they always do so on the basis of evidence.

Good podcast when they have guests. And sweet intro/exit music. Hit or miss when they don’t have guests b/c then it just turns into a venting session about all their ungrounded, speculative anxieties they have regarding said topic of the day. And is amplified around each other. This would be cathartic and productive if they allowed themselves to listen to their feelings around “their story” versus continuing into “their story”, repeating their dysfunctional pattern. It’s sweet though, they have that kind of sibling love that allows them to share with each other like that. A more grounded, worthwhile podcast is by Abby, w/o her brother’s paranoia, “The Empire Files”.

GASLIGHTING ON “MAGA GASLIGHTING” I’ve been a fan of Abby for 4 years, but had to stop listening after the January 27, 2019 episode, “Trump’s Venezuela Coup...MAGA Gaslighting” because they were GASLIGHTING their LISTENERS. It’s IRONIC they GASLIGHT their LISTENERS and say the COVINGTON high school kids were the PROVOCATEURS(which clearly isn’t true if you watch the full, unedited video), while they say the ALT-RIGHT is HIJACKING the MEDIA NARRATIVE to GASLIGHT the public into thinking the KIDS AREN’T THE PROVOCATEURS. This was even after they claim to have watched the full, unedited video. They seem to be afflicted with TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME and AREN’T PERCEIVING REALITY CLEARLY. They claim the black Israelite group was “heckling” each other, despite clearly harassing the kids. They claim the drummer didn’t walk directly into the center of the crowd of kids, which he clearly did. They seem to be TOO BIASED TO SEE EVENTS CLEARLY, so their CREDIBILITY ON OTHER TOPICS IS QUESTIONABLE.

Hi Robbie and Abby, great show, very informative, very impassioned, and eye opening. The only qualm is you have really cool music usually on the intro and outtro, but no mention of the artists, can you please put it in the show notes? Everything else is great.

When it’s just Robbie at the helm it is completely off the rails. He is wildly uneducated on almost everything he brings up save for maybe video games...
